first, Acrobat 8.1.2 is the latest version.
If not done yet you should install the update because Acrobat gets
better support for 10.5.x.

Are this fonts OpenType- (otf) or dfont-fonts?
Did all these fonts come with MacOS?

You are using the english interface of MacOS?
Try using the german interface, maybe the problem disappears.

Hi

Thanks for the reply
Software is up to date
German environment - software and hardware - it is a German office
Fonts are dfont - fonts

Something I should have mentioned (Sorry I forgot)

My collegues both have Tiger and earlier versions of Acrobat (6 & 7). I joined them a year ago and when my other MAC died I received a whole new system and software Creative Suite CS3.

Is it possible that the latest software is simply not yet completely compatible??

Regards

Stephen

Can you try a TrueType font which did not come with the system?
Or try some of the OpenType fonts that you get with CS3.

Adobe stated that Acrobat will be compatible with 10.5 as of v8.1.2.
So that shouldn't be the problem.
I also do not think that Acrobat/Distiller is the bad guy in this scenario.

I tested it with RT 5.6.6 on 10.5.2. with Acrobat/Distiller 7 and
different fonts.
No problem at all to generate a correct pdf via print -> saving as
postscript file -> distiller -> pdf.

For me your problem seems to be a specific problem to your environment.
And for that it will be very difficult to help you via email/forum.

Take a look at your print-options when you make the ps file.
Are all fonts embedded with the ps file?
What printer is active when you "print" to the ps file?
Does the problem only occur when using RagTime?

I will try what you suggested but I won't be able to reply until after Pfingsten. (Urlaub- yeah!).

Once again many thanks and have a nice long weekend.
